Mongaldeep Ottawa is a non-profit socio-cultural organization of the Ottawa region. It is a
membership-based organization, whose focus is on promoting the Bengali language and culture.
Mongaldeep was formed in 2010 and is run by an elected Board of Trustees. Since its inception
Mongaldeep has helped the Bengalees of Ottawa in their pursuit of cultural identity by organizing
Bengali drama, musical events, fund raising for social causes and charitable foundations.
In addition, Mongaldeep organizes a series of events each year, which include Durga Puja,
Saraswati Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Kali Puja and the annual picnic. Members of Mongaldeep are devoted to
enhancing their spiritual, cultural and social experience through activities related to their cultural
heritage. These activities also aim to spread the essence of the Bengali language and culture among the
youth and encourage them to embrace this rich cultural heritage.
Raise awareness of Bengali ethnic identity, along with its rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
Host cultural events that showcase both traditional and contemporary Bengali music, drama, and dance.
Organize fundraising events to support relief efforts and various charitable causes.
Organize events and support Elderly and Seniors
Organize seminars and symposium involving Bengali youth to discuss the assimilation of the first and second generation immigrants within the Canadian mainstream
